PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an open type disposable diaper having a housing space in at least a rear waist region of front and rear waist regions and a crotch region with which it is possible to house and retain a comparatively large volume of excreta.SOLUTION: A chassis 14 includes: a primary body part 59; both side parts which have leg elastic bodies 26 and 27 disposed to extent in a vertical direction Y in a crotch region 13, and are positioned on the outer side in the horizontal direction X of the primary body part 59; and a pair of side elastic parts 25 formed by bending both side parts inwards. In at least a rear waist region 12 of front and rear waist regions 11 and 12, connection panels 51 and 52 which are continuous with or separate from elastic belt pieces 16 and 17 and connect inner side edges 12a of the side elastic parts 25 with each other are positioned.
