356,667. Condensers. WITKOWSKI, S., 26. m. 15, Ul Dluga, Warsaw. March 4, 1930, No. 7091. Convention date, March 4, 1929. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Acts]. [Class 38 (ii).] A device for accumulating electric energy comprises a quartz vessel 4 through the lower end of which a conductor 9 passes. The trough 7 contains mercury which can be vaporized by a current passing through platinum electrodes 8 which are connected to a coil 17 having terminals 18. An anode 12 passes through the stopper of the vessel and the latter is surrounded by a vessel 1 containing water. To use the apparatus the vessel 4 is first exhausted through a tube 13 and the mercury in the trough 7 vaporized. Simultaneously the electrodes 9, 12 are connected to a source of direct current at 740 volts. The complete evaporation of the mercury breaks the heating circuit and charged particles of mercury are stated to settle on the sides of the quartz vessel. The apparatus is discharged by connecting the electrode 9 to earth, the mercury again settling down in the trough 7. |
