<p>The present invention relates to a sub menu display method in a terminal device and the terminal device using the method. The method includes a step of displaying an item corresponding to an random function, a step of determining whether the item includes one or more sub menus relating to the item, a step of displaying a sub menu indicator on the inside or outside of the item, and a step of displaying the sub menu when the indicator receives first input selecting the displayed item and then receives second input displaying the sub menu following the first input. According to the invention, when a random item includes the sub menu, the sub menu of a specific item can be confirmed without an extra screen change by using a touch gesture. The manipulation and convenience of a user interface are improved by performing the touch gesture corresponding to the indicator by displaying the indicator when the item includes the sub menu.
