PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a starter which is capable of ensuring a satisfactory layout property by suppressing enlargement in size and which is excellent in impact resistance, dust resistance and waterproof of electromagnetic devices.SOLUTION: A starter is characterized by being provided with: an output shaft 4; a pinion mechanism 70 which is slidably provided on the output shaft 4 and is linkable with a ring gear 23; a first electromagnetic device 9 which biases the pinion mechanism 70 with pressing force to the ring gear 23 side; a second electromagnetic device 120 which passes power to a motor unit 3 and shuts off the power; and a housing which contains the output shaft 4, the pinion mechanism 70, the first electromagnetic device 9 and the second electromagnetic device 120, and in that the first electromagnetic device 9 is disposed coaxially with the output shaft 4, and the second electromagnetic device 120 is disposed so as to be parallel with the first electromagnetic device 9. |
