PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a resistance welding apparatus capable of sufficiently joining plate materials together free from a fear of the occurrence of short circuit even if a workpiece that is formed by stacking three or more plate materials while arranging a thinnest plate material outermost, is subjected to resistance welding by the resistance welding apparatus.SOLUTION: A resistance welding apparatus includes: a first electrode tip 121 coming into contact with a workpiece from a side of a thinnest plate material; a second electrode tip 131 coming into contact with the workpiece from a side opposite to the first welding electrode and having a reverse polarity to the first electrode tip 121; an auxiliary electrode tip 132 coming into contact with the workpiece from the same side as the second electrode tip 131 and having a reverse polarity to the first electrode tip 121; and an energization unit for energizing a principal current between the first electrode tip 121 and the second electrode tip 131 and energizing a branch current between the first electrode tip 121 and the auxiliary electrode tip 132 while the workpiece is held and pressed by the first electrode tip 121, the second electrode tip 131 and the auxiliary electrode tip 132.
