PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a defect specifying method for a hollow fiber membrane module, capable of reliably, efficiently conducting the defect detection and repair of a hollow fiber membrane.SOLUTION: There is provided a defect specifying method for a hollow fiber membrane module 1 comprising: a module body to which two or more hollow fiber membranes loaded in a case 3 are adhered and fixed at least one end of the case 3 in such a state that the hollow part of the membrane is opened; and a removable cap 6 connected to the end of the opened hollow part in the hollow fiber membrane of the module body. The method is characterized by confirming bubbles B discharged from the end of the opened hollow part to specify the defect portion of the hollow fiber membrane after conducting the steps of: (A1) detaching the cap 6 from the module body to connect a transparent ring 5 to the module body; (B) pressurizing the outer face side of the hollow fiber membrane in the module body by air A; and (C) pooling a liquid W in a space comprising the end at which the hollow part of the hollow fiber membrane in the module body is opened, and the transparent ring 5. |
