The present invention relates to an electrode assembly having steps. The present invention includes: a first electrode end having at least one first electrode unit; and a second electrode end having at least one second electrode unit, the area of which is different from the area of the electrode unit, and further includes at least one electrode-laminated body in which the first electrode end and the second electrode end are laminated so as to be adjacent to each other with at least one separation membrane as a boundary, and which has steps defined by the difference in area between the first electrode end and the second electrode end, wherein the shapes of the corner portions of the first electrode end and the second electrode end where the steps are formed are different from each other. Furthermore, the present invention provides a battery cell including the electrode assembly. According to the present invention, battery cells of various designs can be provided in such a manner that the shapes of the corner portions of the electrode unit are not limited.
