PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery having excellent cycle durability, in which a positive electrode active material is activated, and deterioration in an electrolyte and a negative electrode active material is suppressed, and a method for manufacturing the nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery.SOLUTION: A nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery includes: a positive electrode capable of doping and dedoping lithium ions; a negative electrode capable of adsorbing and desorbing lithium, a lithium alloy or lithium ions; and an electrolyte containing an organic solvent, a lithium salt electrolyte and an additive. A positive electrode active material of the positive electrode includes laminar lithium-containing transition metal oxide represented by the following formula (1): Li[NiCoMnc[Li]]O...(1) (in the formula, a, b, c and d satisfy expressions of 0<a<1.4, 0≤b<1.4, 0<c<1.4, 0<d≤0.5, a+b+c+d=1.5, and 1.0≤a+b+c<1.5.) and a spinel phase present at a part of the laminar lithium-containing transition metal oxide. A negative electrode active material of the negative electrode includes a carbon-based material having a surface, the entire or part of which is coated with a coating derived from the additive. |
