ELECTROCHEMICAL CATALYZER AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrode catalyzer using metal borides as carriers and high in weight activiby of oxygen reduction reatction comparing to conventional ones and a method for producing the same.SOLUTION: An electrochemical catalyzer has a carrier comprising a metal boride and a noble metal particle carried on the surface of the carrier and an oxide layer is not present in the interface of the carrier and the noble metal particle. The electrochemical catalyzer can be obtained by preparing the carrier comprising the metal boride in which the oxide layer is not present on a carrying surface of the noble metal particle, and carrying the noble metal particle on the carrying surface without exposing the carrying surface to an oxidizing atmosphere.
