The present invention discloses an apparatus for estimating the temperature of exhaust gas from a vehicle, which detects the surface temperature of an exhaust system component in a non-contact method and accurately estimates the temperature of exhaust gas from the surface temperature of the exhaust system component. The apparatus for estimating the temperature of exhaust gas from a vehicle comprises an engine which generates power by combusting air and fuel at a mixing ratio and discharges exhaust gas at a high temperature; a non-contact sensor which includes an exhaust system component for purifying harmful substances contained in the exhaust gas through oxidation and reduction by being mounted in an exhaust manifold and which detects the surface temperature of the exhaust system component in a non-contact method in order to provide the information for a control unit; and the control unit which estimates the temperature of the exhaust gas from the surface temperature of the exhaust system component provided from the non-contact sensor.
