The method involves establishing a basic flow of ammonia based on outside temperature, where the basic flow of ammonia is established with regard to a mapping. The basic flow is multiplied by a set of weightings according to a set of physical conditions. A coefficient heater and a main container (8) are provided for obtaining estimated flow (16) of ammonia. The heating of the container is stopped for a long time, and an initial value is provided for a coefficient of heating performed by the heater.
