<p>The invention relates to an electrode and to a process meant for the electrochemical detection of arsenic (III) in aqueous solutions. According to the invention, the assembly containing the working electrode comprises a potentiostat (1) which is simultaneously connected to a reference electrode (4), a platinum counter-electrode (5) and a working electrode (6) made of a composite material, the said electrode (6) being placed inside a support cylinder (7) at the end of which there is submerged an active cylinder (8) made of carbon nano fibres dispersed into an epoxy matrix, a front disc-shaped portion (9) on which there is performed an electrochemical deposition of silver nano particles, while, at the opposite end of the working electrode (6) there is a copper wire (10) entering the electrode up to the connection with the active cylinder (8). The process, as claimed by the invention, consists in submerging the assembly into an aqueous solution within a tank (2) which, at its lower part ensures the homogenization of the solution by a magnetic stirrer (3), to allow the contact of the electrode (6) with the water polluted with arsenic (III), in the presence of an electrolyte, and in applying an anodic stripping method and a squarewave voltammetry technique, thereby determining the electrochemical response of the working electrode (6) to the pollutant presence.</p> |
