The analysis method involves feeding a product (4) in a conveying direction of a machine, and performing a three-dimensional scanning of a surface (4a) of the product, when a light- or dark portion (14) is present in an image. A complete three-dimensional profile of the surface area of the surface is detected, and the product is rated a faulty, if the complete three-dimensional profile is equal to the complete three-dimensional profile of a non-defective product. The product is rated as a non-faulty, if a piece is identified in the three-dimensional profile.
