Provided is a liquid crystal display device that can suppress, more than the prior art, lowering of display quality when low-frequency drive is being carried out. The liquid crystal display device is operated in a low frequency drive mode. A source driver applies a gradation voltage during write periods (HWP, LWP) and an idle period voltage (V_m) during an idle period (SP) to each source line. The value of the idle period voltage (V_m) is, for example, an average value of a maximum gradation positive voltage (V_hmax), a maximum gradation negative voltage (V_lmax), a minimum gradation positive voltage (V_hmin), and a minimum gradation negative voltage (V_lmin). By making the voltage for each source line during the idle period (SP) be the idle period voltage (V_m), potential variations in the source lines when switching from the write periods (HWP, LWP) to the idle period (SP) are smaller than the prior art. |
