A laser illuminator/pointer comprises an array of diode lasers for providing laser beams, wherein the fast axis of each of the diode lasers is rotated with respect to the fast axis of each of the other diode lasers such that a far-field laser spot formed by all of the diode lasers appears more circular than a laser spot formed by one of the diode lasers. The device further comprises beam shaping optics for shaping each of the laser beams and a movable, substantially transparent window on which a plurality of diffusers is disposed to vary the divergence of at least one of the laser beams when the window is moved. |
