METHOD FOR PLASMA NITRIDING OF IRON AND STEEL, AND IRON AND STEEL SUBJECTED TO PLASMA NITRIDATION TREATMENT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for plasma nitriding of iron and steel, in which a new nitriding condition for plasma nitriding of iron and steel is applied, and to provide the iron and steel subjected to plasma nitridation treatment.SOLUTION: In plasma nitriding of iron and steel under a mixing condition of nitrogen (N) gas and hydrogen (H) gas, plasma nitridation treatment of iron and steel is performed using plasma generated by a dipole electrode 3 generating plasma with a high frequency of about 2 MHz, in a condition where the amount of the hydrogen (H) gas is less than 1/25 of the amount of the nitrogen (N) gas.
