An axle assembly 1 for a wheelbarrow 2 includes an axle 4, preferably of metal, having a pair of wheels 6, attachable at least one brace 10 of a wheelbarrow 2 by passing connection means, suitably a bolt 12 secured by a nut 14, through an elongate slot (8, Figure 3) in axle 4. The elongate slot may extend along substantially the full length of axle 4 to secure both braces 10 to axle 4 through the same slot; alternatively, separate elongate slots may be provided on axle 4 to secure each brace 10. Axle 4 may be an integral part of wheelbarrow 2 or supplied as a kit for retrofitting to a conventional wheelbarrow; preferably, axle 4 is removably mounted to wheelbarrow 2. Wheels 6 may be secured at ends of axle 4 between hubs 22 and washers 28, each secured on axle 4 by split pins 30, 36. |
