PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a burner for an exhaust emission control device capable of improving ignitability of an air-fuel mixture, in the burner for the exhaust emission control device for raising a temperature of exhaust flowing into a filter by the combustion of the air-fuel mixture of fuel and air by ignition.SOLUTION: A burner 15 for an exhaust emission control device comprises: a flame stabilizer 16 forming a bottomed cylindrical shape; a fuel injection valve 21 supplying fuel to a combustion region 20; and an ignition plug 22 igniting the air-fuel mixture in the combustion region 20. An outer cylinder 24 surrounding peripheral walls of a small-diameter part 18 and a large-diameter part 19 is attached to the flame stabilizer 16, and a clearance between the small diameter part 18 and the large diameter part 19 and the outer cylinder 24 is partitioned into a first chamber 26 and a second chamber 27 by a partition wall 25. The first chamber 26 and the second chamber 27 are connected by a flow branching pipe 38 provided with a switching valve 39. An ECU 40 controls the switching valve so that the switching valve 39 is in a closed state when an intake air amount detected by an intake air amount sensor 44 is equal to or below a threshold and that the switching valve 39 is in an open state when the intake air amount exceeds the threshold.
