PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle detection device for detecting a vehicle by combining one light projection part with two light reception parts, and for more suppressing costs than a conventional manner.SOLUTION: A vehicle detection device for detecting a vehicle which travels on a road includes: a light projection part installed at one side part of the road; two light reception parts installed side by side in parallel with the traveling direction of the vehicle so as to be faced to the light projection part at the other side part of the road for receiving the rays of light to be radiated from the light projection part; and determination means for monitoring the output states of the two light reception parts, determining the passage of the vehicle in accordance with the change of an incident state and a shading state, determining the traveling direction of the vehicle in accordance with which light reception part has been put in the shading state first, and determining the leaving direction of the vehicle in accordance with which light reception part has been put in the incident state first. |
