The battery cell has seal elements (30-50) sealing a terminal (10) against a battery cell housing (20). The terminal is applied with transient voltage such that a longitudinal force running towards a longitudinal axis of the terminal acts in the terminal. Reaction forces are produced between the seal elements. Seal effect realizing mold elements (70) are formed in a geometric manner such that the reaction forces act as seal realizing contact forces between the seal elements. Lines of application of the contact forces run angularly to lines of application of the longitudinal force. The seal elements comprise a ceramic body. The seal elements are designed as connection elements (60). An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a battery cell.
