The invention relates to a punch support (2) of a compacting machine for producing compacts, said punch support comprising a head (6) to be guided in a cam track (20) of the machine. The invention is characterised in that, for this purpose, the head (6) comprises: a bearing surface (8) that can slide against the cam track (20) and is shaped in such a way as to come into contact with the cam track (20), and a track roller (12) arranged so as to roll on the cam track (20) as the punch support (2) moves through guidance portions of the cam track (20) wherein forces are applied. The invention also comprises a method for using such a punch support and to a compact produced by such a method.
