摘要 One embodiment of the invention is a composition that comprises a radioactive <32>P or <33>P phosphine oxide molecule. The said composition is designed to bind to the transient potential receptor-M8 (TRP-M8) receptor of cells. The radioactive <32>P or <33>P phosphine oxide ligand may be used for radioreceptor binding studies and for diagnostic studies of cancerous tissues. The TRP-M8 receptor is selectively expressed in malignant tissues such as prostate cancer cells. Affinity of the <32>P or <33>P phosphine oxide ligand for the TRP-M8 receptor confers selectivity and specificity in delivering lethal radiation to the diseased cells.
