A detection electrode pattern and a lead wiring pattern, which are to be formed on individual glass substrates, are collectively formed on an original glass sheet having a size that allows a plurality of glass substrates to be cut out. Each touch panel glass substrate is then separated from the original glass sheet by chemical etching. As a result of being separated by chemical etching, touch panel glass substrates, which are provided with a predetermined strength, can be collectively produced with other touch panel glass substrates from an original glass plate without microcracks occurring in the contours thereof.
