The furniture has a frame (12) in which a seat surface (14) accommodating a seat cushion and a backrest (18) accommodating a backrest cushion. The backrest is connected to a rear seat surface end (14a) and pivotable around a backrest pivot axle (16). The pivot axle is positioned above the seat surface. The backrest is connected with the pivot axle over a lever arm (22). The axle is arranged above a neutral zone (13a) of the seat cushion. A backrest drive (24) pivots the backrest around the pivot axle. The seat surface and the backrest are interconnected by a drive (28).
