PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wireless communication system capable of easily detecting failure of LF reception systems of a portable machine that is hard to be judged by a user without an increase in costs.SOLUTION: A portable machine 2 comprises: a CPU 20; a plurality of reception antennas 26a through 26c and an LF reception circuit 240; and an RSSI circuit 2402 for measuring a reception electric field strength for each of the plurality of reception antennas 26a through 26c. The plurality of reception antennas 26a through 26c are constituted of coil antennas having magnetic flux detection directions different from one another. The CPU 20 has failure detection means for detecting failure states of a plurality of LF reception systems of the portable machine 2 on the basis of the amount of change in distance between an LF transmission antenna 31 of an on-vehicle machine 1 and the portable machine 2 obtained form a sum of vectors of each reception electric field strength measurement value for each of the plurality of reception antennas 26a through 26c. |
