<p>A control circuit detects a selection of a particular content item and responsively automatically opens a chat window in context with the selected particular content item. Upon receiving user input in that chat window and in response to the closing of that chat window, the user information is then transmitted to a contact. By way of example, the foregoing particular content item can comprise an available status update. By one approach, the foregoing transmission of the user input automatically includes context information that corresponds to the selected status update.
