468,022. Supply systems for incandescent lamps. GRIFFITHS, P. A. Sept. 10, 1936, No. 24650. [Class 38 (iv)] [Also in Group XI] Emergency systems.-A portable emergency lighting set, brought into operation automatically on failure of the mains, includes an electromagnetic switch energized from the mains and a battery in an auxiliary lighting circuit which is closed when the switch is deenergized, the battery being charged from the mains through a hand switch independently of the electromagnetic switch. The main supply when alternating may be through a transformer 10 and rectifier 9 and a circuit is then completed through winding 18 of the electromagnetic switch and resistance 20 whereby contacts 34, 35 are closed and contacts 31, 32 opened. Contacts 34, 35 close a circuit through battery 22 and sockets 37, 38 for a signal light or bell. If switch 25 is closed, the battery 22 may then be charged. When the main current fails, contacts 34, 35 open and contacts 31, 37 close so that the signal light fails and the emergency lamps connected to sockets 29, 30 are supplied from the battery 22. One of these lamps may be mounted in a reflector on one side of the casing and the other may be supplied through a flexible lead. |
