The present invention relates to a system and a method for managing return information, and includes: a courier terminal device receiving return information from a postal item using a return information providing service; and a return information management server which registers return information transmitted from the courier terminal device in a return information DB, generates statistical information based on the return information and registers the statistical information in a statistical information DB, and provides the return information and the statistical information for a sending customer terminal device according to a request of the sending customer terminal device. The present invention can minimize the cost of sending mail for a sending customer by providing the following information of returned mail for the sending customer: information about a return history for each returning reason; information about an address change history; and information about a mail image. Also, the present invention can improve the quality of a mail delivery service by reducing the cost for redelivering the returned mail to the sending customer.
