PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide mutants of chondroitinase genes, polypeptides and proteins derived therefrom, and methods for promoting neurological functional recovery after a central nervous system injury or disease.SOLUTION: A method for treating a central nervous system injury or disease by a fusion protein comprising a purified chondroitinase AC mutant polypeptide binding to a component selected from soluble NOGO antagonists, neural cell adhesion factors, neurotrophic factors, growth factors, phosphodiesterase inhibitors, inhibitors of MAG or MOG, neuregulins and antibodies that promote remyelination. |
