PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method to produce vitamin K dependent proteins such as Factor IX which have been properly processed so that they are active and in sufficient yield for commercial production.SOLUTION: A method of producing a recombinant biologically active vitamin K dependent protein product includes the steps of: transfecting a mammalian cell with at least two genes including a gene encoding a vitamin K dependent protein, a gene encoding vitamin K dependent epoxide reductase (VKOR), and a gene encoding vitamin K dependent γ-glutamyl carboxylase (VKGC); and harvesting the vitamin K dependent protein product.
