The actuator (12) has actuating element that is pivoted relative to brake shoe (18) about pivot axis. The transmission element is engaged to actuating element to produce linear reciprocating motion of transmission element and swiveling movement of actuating element about pivot axis to move brake shoe from open position to closed position. The contact surface of transmission element and contact surface of actuating element are arranged opposite to each other and extended parallel to each other along linear direction at acute angle to plane (E) of pivotal movement. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) disc brake; and (2) powertrain for combustion engine of motor car.
