PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus in which charging can be executed more properly while prolonging the lifetime of a secondary battery.SOLUTION: If the exchange of a secondary battery is not determined ("N" in S21), termination voltage charging control is executed to perform charging with a preset voltage lower than a voltage corresponding to full charging as a target voltage (S23). When the exchange of the secondary battery is determined ("Y" in S21), -&Dgr;V charging control is executed to perform full charging (S24) and during the full charging control, a first voltage corresponding to full charging is measured (S25). A second voltage is calculated which is lower than the measured first voltage just in a predetermined ratio, the target voltage to be used in the termination voltage charging control is updated to the calculated second voltage (S29), and the subsequent termination voltage charging control is then executed using the updated target voltage. |
