The method involves applying a scene with an intensity- modulated electromagnetic radiation. The reflected electromagnetic radiation is detected by a detector (D), and the phase of intensity modulation of electromagnetic radiation is evaluated. The two emitters (E1,E2) are arranged at preset distance from each other. The relative phase differences of two intensity-modulated light signals at the emitters are adjusted so that the intensity-modulated light signals are overlapped in same phase. The scene is scanned within primary scan range by varying the relative phases of emitters. An independent claim is included for a device for detecting three-dimensional scene.
