PURPOSE: A device and a method for reducing the speed of a vessel using a seawater pump are provided to increase a deceleration force if necessary using ballast water and seawater together. CONSTITUTION: A device for reducing the speed of a vessel using a seawater pump comprises a discharge hole(100), a deceleration discharge line(200), a first connection pipe(210), a second connection pipe(220), a seawater discharge pump(400), a flow rate meter(500), and a seawater flow direction controller. The discharge hole is arranged on an outer plate of the vessel. The deceleration discharge line is connected to the discharge hole. The first connection pipe is connected to a first pipe line by being divided from one side of the deceleration discharge line and includes a third valve. The second connection pipe is connected to a second pipe line by being divided from the other side of the deceleration discharge line for controlling flow rate and includes a fourth valve. The seawater discharge pump and the flow rate meter are installed in the deceleration discharge line. The seawater flow direction controller controls flow direction of seawater discharged from the discharge hole. |
