PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a combustion state detector capable of effectively improving calculation accuracy of a combustion mass ratio.SOLUTION: A combustion state detector 1 includes: a pressure detection part 5 detecting pressure in a combustion chamber 101; a heat release rate calculation part 6 calculating a rate of heat release; and a combustion mass ratio calculation part 7 calculating a combustion mass ratio based on an integrated value of the rate of heat release during a period from integration start timing &thetas;1 to integration termination timing &thetas;2. The integration start timing &thetas;1 is timing delayed by predetermined standby time &Dgr;t previously set from fuel injection timing. The integration termination timing &thetas;2 is set based on the integrated value of the rate of heat release during a period from first timing &thetas;X1 when the rate of heat release is less than or equal to 0J/deg for the first time after combustion to second timing &thetas;X2 delayed by predetermined time previously set from the first timing &thetas;X1. |
