A respiratory assistance device (10) is provided with: a mask (13) having an exhalation hole (13a); an exhalation valve (15) provided to the mask (13) and opening and closing the exhalation hole (13a); and a control unit (17) for controlling the entire device in an integrated manner. An opening/closing device is formed by the mask (13) and the exhalation valve (15). The exhalation valve (15) can be deformed by the deformation of a piezo element (15a). The exhalation valve (15) is disposed on the inner surface (13f) of the mask (13) in such a manner that the direction of deformation of the exhalation valve (15), which is the thickness direction of the exhalation valve(15), extends along the inner surface (13f) of the mask (13) and in such a manner that the deformation of the exhalation valve (15) causes a side surface (15m) to slide on the inner surface (13f). |
