摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem in which: an optical pickup for recording and reproducing information in/from an optical recording medium by near-field light generated by irradiating light emitted from a light source to a plasmon generator is proposed for larger capacity of the optical recording medium; however, a small-sized optical pickup that is suitable for mounting a plasmon generator on a slider and performing position control so as to stably place the plasmon generator at a desired position on the optical recording medium by air floating is not proposed; and, accordingly, a conventional optical pickup cannot stably perform recording and reproducing.SOLUTION: An optical pickup is constituted of a first light source, a waveguide-mounted photodetector element and a slider for holding the waveguide-mounted photodetector element. The waveguide-mounted photodetector element comprises: a silicon substrate; a circuit formation layer provided on the silicon substrate; an optical transmission section provided on the circuit formation layer; and a terminal for applying an electrical signal from the outside and outputting the electrical signal to the outside. The optical transmission section has a waveguide, a plasmonic waveguide and a plasmon generator. The optical pickup has a photodetector and a current voltage conversion section in the circuit formation layer.
