PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To always form a toner image stably on the surface of an image carrier by effectively preventing a foreign matter such as residual toner from being accumulated at the end of the image carrier. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes a photoreceptor drum 121 rotating while carrying a toner image, and a developing device 122 having a developing roller 122a supplying toner to the surface of the photoreceptor drum 121, and a pair of gap rollers 122b abutting on both ends of the photoreceptor drum 121 so as to form a predetermined gap between the developing roller 122a and the surface of the photoreceptor drum 121. Then, the apparatus includes end cleaning devices 50 performing dedicated cleaning processing to portions corresponding to the gap rollers 122b at both ends of the photoreceptor drum 121.
