PURPOSE: A composition containing a Chrysanthemum indicum extract for preventing or treating cancer is provided to suppress STAT3 signal transduction. CONSTITUTION: A composition for preventing or treating prostate cancer or multiple myeloma contains a Chrysanthemum indicum extract as an active ingredient. The extract is prepared using methanol, ethanol, acetone, ethyl acetate, hexane, butanol, methylene chloride, water, or a mixture thereof. The extract suppresses STAT3 activity and JAK1 and JAK2 phosphorylation.
