PURPOSE: A method for controlling an automotive lighting device is provided to control the brightness of rear lamps of the vehicle depending on illuminance outside the vehicle, a distance between the vehicles, weather conditions, thereby reducing the fatigue of eyes of rear drivers. CONSTITUTION: An illuminance detection sensor (10) detects illuminance outside the vehicle. A breaking sensor (40) detects whether the breaking system of the vehicle operates. A following distance sensor (70) detects a distance between the vehicle and a rear vehicle. A vehicle stop sensor (80) detects whether the vehicle stops. A first lamp (50) and a second lamp (60) irradiate light according to instruction information inputted from a controller (90).
