PURPOSE: An MPE-FEC Reed-Solomon decoder and a decoding method are provided, which consider the hardware complexity and the processing speed of the reception terminal, and can reduce the error location polynomial calculation of the Reed-Solomon decoder. CONSTITUTION: A value corresponding to the delete error location is replaced with 0(S1) in the receiving signal. A syndrome is calculated by using the received signal(S2). A readjusted syndrome is calculated(S4) by using the delete location polynomial expression and the syndrome. A delete error size polynomial expression is calculated(S5). The error size is calculated(S7) by using the readjusted Pony algorithm. The error is corrected through the error location and the calculated error size(S8). |
