PURPOSE: A terminal for providing an icon managing function and a method for managing the same are provided to reserve icons which are not used for a predetermined period in a separate place based on a disuse setting, thereby creating a simple and clear icon display environment. CONSTITUTION: A display unit (140) outputs an icon display screen including an icon. An input unit (120) generates a signal for designating a disuse setting period of the icon. A control unit (160) outputs the icon in a different form according to a disuse history of the icon based on the disuse setting period. The control unit displays an image of the icon to be gradually smaller, dimmer or darker in proportion to the disuse history and deletes the image after passing the disuse setting period.
