PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a film inspection system capable of identifying defects in an alignment direction on a film having optical anisotropy.SOLUTION: In a film inspection system 1, a retardation film 10 is photographed by a line sensor 3a through a polarization plate 31a while being illuminated through a polarization plate 51a, and the retardation film 10 is photographed by a line sensor 3b through a polarization plate 31b while being illuminated through a polarization plate 51b. Polarization directions of the polarization plate 31a and the polarization plate 51a, and the polarization plate 31b and the polarization plate 51b are substantially orthogonal to each other; the polarization direction of the polarization plate 31a and an alignment direction of the retardation film 10 makes an angle of 45°; and the polarization direction of the polarization plate 51b and the alignment direction of the retardation film 10 are substantially orthogonal to each other. An image processing apparatus 7 performs discrimination of defects in the alignment direction on the basis of two pieces of image data 20a and 20b obtained by photographing the retardation film 10 by the line sensors 3a and 3b. |
