PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information processing system and an information processing method capable of generating person trip information from an action history based on position information.SOLUTION: The information processing system of the invention comprises: a database 140 for storing position history information 141 including position information indicating a position of a portable terminal 200 and time information indicating time relevant to the position information; data extracting means 117 for extracting an action history of a user having the portable terminal 200 on the basis of the position history information 141 stored in the database 140; and outputting means 119 for outputting information on the action history of the user on the basis of the extracted result.
