A method of altering charitable organization account data in a computer-implemented philanthropy management system, the method comprising: receiving charitable organization information relating to a charitable organization; generating and storing a charitable organization data structure for storing the received charitable organization information, the charitable organization data structure including an account identification value for identifying an account that holds funds for the organisation, and an organization identifier uniquely identifying the organization; generating and storing a project data structure for storing project data relating to a project, the project data including at least a funding amount value representing the funding capital the project has received from outside sources, an organization identifier identifying the charitable organization associated with the project, and a project identifier uniquely identifying the project; receiving a request to make a donation to the charitable organization or project, the request including information identifying an amount of the donation and the charitable organization or project; in response to the request, generating a transaction data structure including the amount of the donation and one or both of an organization identifier and a project identifier, the transaction data also including one or more data values representing a state of the transaction; and altering an account data structure representing a virtual bank account for the charitable organization to reflect the amount of the donation; and calculating a fee to be charged to the charitable organization based at least in part on storing the charitable organization information in a database.
