PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical module which is suitable for head-mounted applications and can be made lighter and more compact even if a desired field of view is increased.SOLUTION: An optical device includes a light-transmitting substrate 20, optical means for coupling light into the substrate by total internal reflection, and a plurality of partially reflecting surfaces 22 carried by the substrate, where the partially reflecting surfaces are parallel to each other and are not parallel to any of the edges of the substrate. |
