The blockable piston-cylinder assembly or unit (1) has a piston (10) provided with a retaining chamber, in which a cam sleeve and a switchover ring are arranged. The switchover ring has a saw tooth projection, where the cam sleeve is provided with a cam. A valve slider (17) protrudes with its free ends in the retaining chamber. The free ends are provided opposite to an actuating rod (16). Another cam is formed at the free ends of the valve slider. The latter cam cooperates with the former cam of the cam sleeve and the projection of the switchover ring for blocking or releasing the piston.
