<p>A method for producing a plastic product in the form of a substantially planar single-layer panel. The method comprises the steps of: providing a mould having a mould cavity; introducing a plastic material into the mould cavity; at least partially curing the plastic material to form a moulding inside the mould cavity via the application of heat. The method further comprises the subsequent steps of removing the moulding from the mould cavity and then simultaneously cooling the moulding and compressing the moulding so as to reduce its size in at least one dimension to a desired dimension of the finished product. Preferably, the moulding is removed from the mould cavity and the steps of cooling and compressing are performed in a press. The plastic material may consist entirely of recycled plastic, plastics allocated for landfill, recycled High Impact Polystyrene (HIPS) or recycled polyethylene.</p> |
