In circumstances where the differential rotation between driven wheels is excessive, a differential and other mechanisms are efficiently protected by a relatively simple control without an increase in the size, weight, or cost of a four-wheel-drive mechanism. A driving force control device for a four-wheel-drive vehicle in which a driving force allocated to rear wheels (W3, W4) is controlled using a front-rear torque allocation clutch (10) installed between a propeller shaft (7) and a rear differential (11), whereby a control is performed for causing front wheels (W1, W2) to be main drive wheels and rear wheels (W3, W4) to be auxiliary drive wheels, wherein, when the speed of a vehicle body as detected by a vehicle speed sensor (S8) is equal to or less than 120 km, and a state is maintained for 0.1 sec or longer in which the difference in wheel speed between left and right rear wheels as detected by left and right rear wheel speed sensors (S3, S4) is equal to or greater than 80 km, a control is performed in which the front-rear torque allocation clutch (10) is disengaged and allocation of the driving force to the rear wheels (W3, W4) is stopped. |
