[Class 74 (ii)] In the knitting of a sock by hand a yarn of a colour contrasting with the yarn stock is knitted to form the line 16 of stitches between the heel 12 and the foot portion 11. Long ends 15 may be provided upon the yarn forming the line 16 and may be used for sewing the side edges 14 of the heel flap to the adjacent portions of the foot. The stitches along the edges 14 may be picked up with a yarn also of contrasting colour so that the area of the heel flap is well defined. |
